The San Francisco Chronicle is a great resource if you would like students to explore current events as part of your curriculum.
Teachers and students can access the electronic version of the newspaper (including past issues) online via our educational account. Our login information is provided on the PJHS Passwords document. **Just as a reminder, passwords can be shared with students privately (via Google Classroom, Email, Zoom or a Google Doc with privacy the settings limiting access to petk12 accounts) but should not be posted on public class websites where people outside of PJHS could find the information and use it to get into our account. (The subscription is for PJHS student and staff educational use only.) |
BrainPop provides short videos on a wide variety of topics organized by subject (and also searchable). There are a variety of materials provided along with each video including a Quiz, Related Reading, Worksheets etc. I like to use them as hooks and/or warm ups. You can easily import your Google Classrooms and assign movies and other materials.

Quizlet allows teachers to create interactive vocabulary flashcards with words and/or pictures (or students can create their own flash card decks too). Quizlet automatically generates quizzes and games to help students study. Teachers can create classes, assign flashcard decks to students. You need a premium account to track how many activities students have completed, but the basic functions are free. There is a new interactive remote learning feature which is worth checking out if you host regular Zoom meetings!

TeachingBooks a database provided by the state of California. It contains author interviews, movie clips, book reviews, summaries and so much more! If you are going to read a book with your class, this is one place you can browse for support resources! (Don't forget to let me know too! I am happy to curate resources to support curriculum!)
